Our Story
In 1956 Gavin's grandfather, Ralph Gavin, started an excavating business in Hamilton. Ralph was an industry pioneer who understood the potential of technology to improve the quality of earthworks for new developments and civil construction projects. He wisely invested in the best heavy machinery available, which - at that time - was the mighty Northwest and Smith-Radley excavators.
Through three generations the Gavin/Murray family business worked hard and earned a reputation for delivering quality work with honesty and integrity. These family values and the skills of the trade were passed on to Gavin while working with his father and grandfather.
After learning Gavin went on study Geography at Brock University and then decided to venture out and created a new site-servicing company. Gavin's Company had humble beginnings: just Gavin, one excavator, and few employees. At first, the jobs were small but, in short order, the quality of the work and the integrity of the operation earned Gavin a great reputation and a loyal group of repeat customers.
In 1985 Gavin registered an owner-operated company. Then in 1993, after a period of growth, that company was re-structured and incorporated under the GCL logo. Now, GCL is an established respected site services contractor in the Greater Hamilton Area.

GCL only uses the most up-to-date, advanced technology available, ultimately providing the best and most accurate site services. All of our surveyors are personally equipped with this equipment and laptop computers, so are able to produce drawings on-site if required.
